We're Hiring
AIT Engineer
Are you a precision-oriented engineer who believes that a mission is only as good as its documentation? Do you have a passion for ensuring that high-tech systems work perfectly the first time, every time? Do you want to see the cameras you built and tested being sent into space?
We are looking for an AIT Engineer with a strong Mechanical Engineering background and a Product Assurance mindset to join our team in Tartu.
About Us At CrystalSpace, we build technology that cannot afford to fail. From satellite components to defense systems, our products operate in the most unforgiving environments. We are looking for an engineer who thrives on the details, masters the standards, and takes pride in the “QA/PA mindset” that guarantees mission success.
What You’ll Do
- Assembly & Integration: Lead the hands-on assembly and integration of complex optoelectronic and mechanical systems, moving from CAD designs to physical hardware.
- Rigorous Testing: Our cameras need to be able to survive in space with minimal input from the ground so functional and environmental testing are key to success!
- Design and execute environmental and functional test campaigns to validate hardware against mission requirements.Working with internal and external partners to plan testing campaigns.
- Ensure needed Handling of Test Equipment (GSE) development, handling, and availability.
- Define harnesses build definition (power, signal).
- Product Assurance (PA): Oversee the full PA lifecycle, ensuring that every component and process aligns with internal quality goals and international standards (ECSS).
- Master the Documentation: Create and maintain detailed manufacturing files, test reports, and non-conformance reports. You will be the guardian of our technical records.
- Process Excellence: Implement and refine internal QA processes to bridge the gap between rapid innovation and mission-critical reliability.
- You will also support aspects relating to quality and stock management, keeping clear and appropriate documentation. Throughout all stages you will be engaging with colleagues from R&D and project management departments.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues that arise during the assembly, integration, and testing phases.
- Support clients in integration and test campaigns in person.
What We’re Looking For
- Mechanical Expertise: A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) and proven experience in the assembly and integration of high-tech hardware.
- You’ll need to be an all-rounder, with hands-on skills in mechanical and electrical assembly, as well as operating Linux systems.
- You’ll know the practical implications of working in a clean room and lab environment.
- CAD Proficiency: Strong ability to understand and work with CAD models to guide the assembly process and identify potential mechanical conflicts.
- The QA/PA Mindset: You don’t see documentation as a chore, you see it as the backbone of quality. You are proactive in identifying risks and non-conformances.
- Python Skills (Bonus): Experience with Python for test automation or data analysis is a significant advantage.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to maintain focus during complex, multi-stage testing procedures.
Why Join Us?
- Play a critical role in ensuring our technology reaches the stars (and stays there).
- Work with world-class organizations like the ESA, where ECSS compliance is the gold standard.
- Join a team that values your expertise in quality as much as we value innovation.
- Shape the internal standards and processes of a growing, high-tech company.
Location & Commitment
- This is a full-time position.
- Due to the hands-on nature of AIT and hardware testing, this role is on-site in Tartu, Estonia.
- You will work in our controlled laboratory environments and cleanroom facilities.
